Diehl Metal Applications (DMA) is expanding its product portfolio with SKEDD, the new innovative contact technology from Würth Elektronik ICS.
The company Würth Elektronik ICS has developed a simple and reliable addition to soldering and press-fit terminations with its direct connection technology SKEDD. SKEDD is a direct contact technology for printed circuit board connections. It enables single cables, connectors and other components to be joined with the printed circuit board reversibly and directly ‒ without the need for a socket base.
As a new type of contact system for connecting components to the printed circuit board, SKEDD is also contributing to the miniaturization trend in the automotive industry. Assembly space and weight are reduced; assembly is simplified and a sustainable recycling process is supported.
Diehl Metal Applications develops and produces customer-specific solutions across the entire value-adding chain. Prematerial | Toolmaking | Stamping Technology | S+D Press-Fit Zones | Plating Technology | Metal-Plastic Compound Systems. “For DMA, SKEDD represents an ideal addition to our S+D press-fit zone product family and a future-oriented further development of our innovative solutions for our customers across the world. Thanks to our technical possibilities, we are able to offer the customer ‘everything from one source’ with SKEDD technology, too. Diehl offers everything under one roof ‒ ranging from strip made of Cu alloys to the manufacture of stamping and injection tools, as well as from stamping and plating technology to metal-plastic compound systems,” explains Frank Uibel, Managing Director of DMA GmbH in Berlin.
With DMA, Würth is gaining another powerful partner for further developing this innovative contact technology and for offering it on the global markets: “We are pleased that with Diehl Metal Applications we have attained one of the leading manufacturers of press-fit zones and metal-plastic compound systems as a SKEDD licensing partner. This represents another important milestone in establishing SKEDD technology on the market,” says Dr. Klaus Wittig, Managing Director of Würth Elektronik ICS.
“We will integrate SKEDD in our press-fit technology product management portfolio, thereby expanding our range of connection technologies between contact systems and printed circuit boards. Based on our years of experience in press-fit technology, we can draw on skilled employees as well as the necessary testing and inspection equipment as a means of central support within DMA,” says Heike Woldt, Head of Product Management, when referring to the integration of SKEDD at DMA.
